Sonya's Garden

Sonya's Garden is a popular wedding destination on the hills of Tagaytay, in the main island of the Philippines, two hours away from Manila. I have always wanted to visit this garden tucked away from the bustling main road.  Tagaytay was also the venue of my wedding, because it was the first place my husband and I went to when we were still dating.

A tranquil haven with a restaurant offering organic produce, a spa, a country bakery and store and a romantic Bed and Breakfast all wrapped in a blanket of greens growing wildly in beautiful disarray.

Throughout the garden are benches and love seats, making it an ideal romantic spot of whispered sweet nothings and an ideal place to daydream while waiting.

The gateway to the bed and breakfast leads you to private and quiet cottages of capiz-shell louvered windows, typical of ancestral and colonial houses in the country.  The airy bedroom suites are all naturally ventilated with antique solid wood furniture made of indigenous materials.  They're open all year round with 14 cottages, 18 rooms.

It's definitely a refuge for burned-out city folks and for those who have been residing overseas,  who would like a charming treat of  Philippine hospitality.

How to get there?

From South Super 23 Highway, exit Sta. Rosa.  Upon reaching Tagaytay main Aguinaldo Highway, turn right towards Nasugbu, Batangas. Go past rotonda (roundabout) and drive for 10 kilometers.  After Splendido Golf Course (on your left), make a right turn on Buck Estate.  (There's a small signage at the corner).  Drive for another 2 kilometers and you'll find the gate on your left.

    1. Hi Jo, thanks, yes I am. The typhoon is really bad in the south where I was last week--same region of the island blog posts. I was a bit lucky and made it back to Manila before it hit, but I heard there's another one coming. My heart goes out to all the victims. I'll be in the Philippines the whole of December till New Year. Hugs
