Run for Fun

It's that time of year for Standard Chartered Dubai Marathon .  For the last several years, I was present as a spectator, patiently waiting at the finish line, cheering as I watched my husband successfully cross it beating his record the previous year.

Marathon Runners
This year, when I got back from vacation, I found an envelope on my nightstand saying "Good Luck".  In it was a registration for me to run the 10K.  He mentioned it to me last year that he would do it, but I thought he was kidding, so I didn't take it seriously. I intentionally forgot about the training and preparation. I skipped it altogether while I was in the Philippines and even when I got back.

10K Runners- All Set
So there I was. 7AM ready to run.  I've decided to show up.  Regardless.   Inspired by the enthusiasm and energy of the crowd around me.  It's an amazing feeling!  There was this lightness and silent encouragement among the runners to just keep going.   To cut the story short.  I just ran...

I'm happy.  When I saw the finish line, I just ran -  as fast as I could. :)
Made it there. Time: 1 hr: 19 mins: 08 secs

The marathon runners are amazing!.
I have the utmost respect. I salute you runners out there.

I would definitely want to do it again.
I have always led a sedentary lifestyle and hated Physical Ed.
so I never thought I'd ever do this.
The aches and pains after the run is a different story.
Do you enjoy running?

Have a great weekend!
XOXO,
Arni

  3. Well done - that's so impressive. I'm not a runner but do like to keep fit with Zumba and aerobics. No wonder you had a few aches and pains the next day!
