Wadi Driving
We're celebrating a long weekend in the United Arab Emirates. Today is a religious non-working holiday, Prophet Mohammed's birthday. It's going to be a long weekend. For those stuck at home craving for adventure with no idea how to spend their Friday tomorrow, try Wadi Driving.
Wadi is an Arabic term, meaning valley. Wadi is a dry riverbed that becomes a stream during heavy rains. January is the best time to try off-road driving. Explore the rocky paths in between large boulders and mountains during cold season in a big group of 4X4s. We drove close to the UAE-Oman border.
Jabal Yibir is the highest mountain in the United Arab Emirates. According to Wiki it is 1527 m (5,010 ft) high. Contrary to popular belief - No, Jabal Hafeet in Al Ain is not the tallest one.

If you're feeling more adventurous, I found a Youtube video that I'd like to share with you of a steep and dangerous descent from Jebel Yibir posted by Les Winter.
An adventure in the wilderness is incomplete without a short picnic.
Have a beautiful weekend!
XOXO,
Arni

It's really a beautiful place but I wouldn't want to get loss there, so sad and dangerous.

Looks like an interesting drive! I'm wondering how many cars get flat tires, though!
ReplyDeleteThe landscape is so beautiful and different from Australia's!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a fun activity for the weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe landscape kind of reminds me to the south of Tenerife when it hasn't rained for months. It looks equally dry, but on a small scale!
