Random Photos and Airport Express

Architecture - Langham Place in Mong Kok
I'd like to share with you random photos in my attempt to capture more of Hong Kong in a single post. Real estate is expensive. The residents managed to make the most of each space. They ensure every square meter is excellently designed- architecturally speaking, incorporating greenery wherever possible.

 Speaking of Airport Express..
Airport Express is a very efficient airport railway system that connects you to the city.
  • Service hours: 5:50AM to 1:15 AM
  • The train is every 10 minutes,  ready to take  you between the airport and Hong Kong station right at the center of the shopping district in approximately 24 minutes.
  • It's connected to the Asia-World Expo in just 1 minute from the airport
  • It's linked to MTR Lines .
Airport Express Ticket Types:
  1. Single Journey Ticket (Valid on the day of issue)
  2. Same Day Return Ticket (Valid on the day of issue)
  3. Round Trip Ticket (Valid 30 Days from day of issue)
  4. Octopus Card (Valid 3 Years from day of last value-adding transaction) - Octopus Card is an electronic store-value ticket and it can be used on most public transport.

Since we were staying in TST (Tsim Sha Tsui), we bought a  round trip Airport Express ticket HK$ 160 - Kowloon -Airport. From Kowloon Station, we took a Free Airport Express Shuttle Service to major hotel stop closest to where our accommodation was located. (In my previous post, we booked Big Bus Tours so we didn't need to use the MTR and opted to purchase an MTR ticket should we need them).

There are also tourist tickets available from their brochure:

A. Tourist Day Pass - 1 day unlimited travel on the MTR and Light Rail.
  • Ticket is valid for 1 month from the day of issue.
  • It is restricted to tourists  who are non-Hong Kong residents and have stayed in HK for less than 14 days at the time of purchase.
  • Adults: HK$ 55   Children HK$25

*1 Day is defined  as 24 consecutive hours starting from the recorded entry time of the first journey on the MTR.
**This excludes Airport Express, MTR Bus, East Rail Line First Class and travel to Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations

B. Tourist Cross Boundary Travel Pass - 1 day or 2 consecutive days of 2 single journeys to Lo Wu or Lok Ma Chau stations, including unlimited travel on the MTR and Light Rail

  • Ticket is valid within 1 month of the day of issue
  • It is restricted to tourists  (same as above)
  • Fare: HK$ 120 / HK $ 85

*Each day is from start to close of train service.
**This excludes Airport Express, MTR Bus, East Rail Line First Class and additional travel to Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau stations.
*** Travel only becomes effective on the Light Rail after the first journey has been made on the MTR.

C. Airport Express Travel Pass - Allows you to travel to and fro from the airport and within the city for 3 consecutive days, unlimited travel  on the MTR, Light Rail, MTR Bus (Northwest New Territories).

  • Ticket is valid 180 days from the date of issue
  • It is restricted to tourists  (same as above)
  • Fare: HK $ 300  /  HK$ 220
  • Refundable deposit of HK $ 50 with 1 or 2 designated journey(s) on the Airport Express

*3 days starts from the recorded entry time of the first MTR train journey and lasts for 72 hours plus any additional hours up to the end of train service on the last day.

Note:  You can get an MTR System Map at the Airport Express Counter. Same as below

It's not as complicated as I thought it was when I was doing my research.  What I love most about Hong Kong Airport Express is the Free In- Town Check-in Service at Hong Kong or Kowloon Stations for major airlines even as early as one full day ahead of your scheduled flight departure time,  provided you have an Airport Express Card to be able to check in early. Service Hours from 5:30 AM to 12:30 AM.  The counters are subject to airline flight schedule.

Hope the above information helps you with your journey.
Have a great Tuesday!
XOXO,
Arni
