The Little Black Jacket

When I arrived home from the airport, I found a Chanel paper bag with a black book perched on my coffee table. It is a surprise gift from a dear friend.

The Little Black Jacket  is a book by Karl Lagerfeld and Carine Roitfeld. An artistic compilation of black and white photographs by Karl Lagerfeld of different accomplished celebrities; actors, models, designers, directors, musicians wearing Chanel's iconic little black jacket exhibiting their own individuality.

Of course, I'd have to include two of my favorite French actors in this post; Romain Duris and Gaspard Ulliel, two of the sexiest men alive in France.

To those who are expecting a fashionable book illustrating what to wear from head to toe, this is not the book for you. This however, is an album of great timeless portraits of famous faces exuding their own personality

It's a classic coffee table book that would be lovely to browse.
If you were to show your individual flair with a little black jacket,
 how would you style it?

Love & light,
Arni

P.S. A long weekend is being celebrated in the United Arab Emirates so there's officially no work today due to Israa & Miaraj Night. Offices will resume on Sunday.

  1. Definitely one to add to the Amazon wishlist. I would be totally lost without my sharp and simple black blazer. I pair it with some black heels and a simple dress for the office and jeans and t-shirt for a night out!

  2. Alas, I'm too large to wear a short jacket now but if I ever lose the weight, it's the first thing I would buy

  5. What a wonderful surprise! And a very thoughtful friend :)
I love fashion books, especially the ones with timeless images and provinding a deeper insight into the history of fashion, and this one seems like a good suggestion! Most of the time I go for timeless clothing and I think a black jacket looks simply great with jeans and a white shirt - golden ballet flats would be perfect, but black are also great for everyday life.

    Enjoy your long weekend!

  6. Seriously how fabulous! I think Coco! She was so mysterious and did not grab the spotlight but allowed her clothes to speak for her, which I think is something fashion is missing right now. Everyone wants to be in the spotlight that I often cannot tell clothes from designers. You know what I mean? Like Coco let the clothes speak for her and where totally different then anything around. Right now all the clothes look alike and I can tell the designers because they are more photographed then the clothes.
I don't know if any of that made sense.

    1. I'm a big fan of Coco too. :) I have read her autobiography and watched both recent movies about her life and I'm amazed by her guts, creativity, effortless style and grace.
