Sri Lanka
Tea Plantation
It's so green! |
After a relaxing day in Colombo, we hired a taxi driver as a tour guide to take us to Kandy. We stopped by Geragama Tea Plantation and Factory where we had an educational tour in the art of tea making. Sri Lanka is the world's fourth largest producer of tea. It was interesting to see the process from wilting and preventing oxidation of the plucked tea leaves, rolling, drying, and sorting all the way to packaging. The famous Ceylon Black Tea is not to be missed and our trip was concluded by enjoying a cup in the tea room.

It rains only three times a year in Dubai, so I happily took a shower in the rain! |
Care to join me for a cup of tea?
Have a lovely day!

Beautiful, so much green all around! I've visited tea plantations too, they're so relaxing and refreshingly cool. Guess what I'm doing right now? Sipping a cup of tea (I also have a slice of freshly made banana cake, just so you know :) )
ReplyDeleteWow, thats gorgeous! I love how lush everything looks. It must have been quite enchanting in the rain as well!
ReplyDeleteFascinating! I have to agree with Stephanie and say that it all looks so lush - and I don't actually think I have ever seen tea up close and personal! Love that photo of you embracing the rain!

ReplyDeleteI bet this placed smelled heavenly. My friend went to a tea farm or some tea place in Taiwan and swore it was one of the most amazing experiences in her life. I'd love to have a sip of tea with you :) have a great week!

to have a tea plantation was always one of my biggest dreams!
ReplyDeleteI did not know that about Sri Lanka.
ReplyDeleteI would so love to be there right now! Sri Lanka seems to be the new destination of choice, I've seen it featured in a few travel mags recently.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to join you for a cup of tea! :) This looks so amazing, I love the idea of visiting a plantation like this.
ReplyDeleteLove all the greenery! Your trip to the tea plantation must have been interesting. You are so lucky to be able to travel everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI have heard about Kandy and the wonderful tea plantations. What an interesting trip. This is something I would enjoy as I like my cups of tea too. Raining in Dubai - that's unusual. I think we have only seen rain once there a few years ago and everyone was so excitied.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to join you for a cup of tea :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a really beautiful place for a relaxing yet educating day trip. The lush shades of green are so pretty.
Three days of rain a year is so little, I'm not sure I could cope with desert life but I can imagine how much you enjoyed getting soaked under the rain!
