Last Walk in the Village

Some good things have to end to give way to new ones.

Tranquil street

During a walk today to buy a baguette at the village centre's boulangerie, the quite sad truth reminded us that this is our last Christmas in my husband's hometown.  As 2013 is coming to a close, changes are waiting for us in the new year.

The family sold their countryside home to build a new one closer to the Atlantic at the heart of the city an hour away from here. Despite the continuous rain throughout the week, I made a vow to make the most of their village as soon as the sun appears and reminisce memories here during many visits.

Typical house in the neighborhood
An old house at the junction
Here's a collection of memories made here and  neighboring towns:
Town centre church
Village square
I will miss the sound of the church bell during the day
Empty street at 11AM
Christmas was good, defined by these words;  Coquilles Saint Jacques,  Family, Foie Gras, Cidre Doux, Memories of the Past, and Bûche de Noël.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and a reflective time before the New Year begins.

Love & Light,
Arni

  1. It is always sad when we put an end to happy things, but hopefully this change will be for the better!
When I was 18 my parents sold the appartment I grew up in the city and we moved to a house in a small village. It was a bad age for such a drastic change and I don't think I ever got used to it. Now that I've moved out my parents I don't mind that much anymore but everytime I go to Tenerife I miss our old appartment and one of my favourite things to do is to spend time walking in my hometown.
Hope you're making the most of your holidays and the last days of 2013 :)
    Have a great weekend!

  2. Such lovely houses! Some of the buildings are actually similar to some others in my own city here in Central Europe

  4. Wonderful pictures, Arni! Looks lovely indeed. I am sure though that the new place will have its charms as well, close to the sea is always a plus, isn't it?
