10 Things I'm Grateful for this Week

Apart from taking a mini break from blogging since my last post, I had the liberty to take a short break from motherhood as well. I strongly believe we need to step away from time to time.  I'm making a round up of what I love and I am grateful for this week.

1. A Rainy Day!
In Dubai, it rains approximately three times a year. Remaining 362 days are all sunny. I won't complain but I love rain! I truly do. Enjoying a steaming cup of coffee and the sight, sound and  smell of rain make me happy.

2.  Buying gifts for family.
It's customary in our culture to bring something home when we visit. I have the habit of buying others something that I know he or she will like, that I really want for myself (am I making sense?). Here's an example, I have always wanted one of these- Naked Palette for myself but I'm giving it to my sister instead. I always do this. It's like I'm vicariously treating myself when I see them happy.

3.  Wearing a red lipstick at home just because..
Even when I'm at home, I would put on my favorite shade, No. 40 Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet for no reason, just because I feel like doing so.

4.  Oh this book! Cuddled under a blankct and reading this book for the second time.
The Hundred Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson is by far one of my favorite books that I read recently. Laughter is inevitable so dare to laugh in the bus or train while reading this book.  Me Before You by Jojo Moyes comes up next.

5. Surpise!
They held out a Gucci bag to me with a big smile. For friends on Instagram, you might have already seen this.  Apart from the actual gift, I think the feeling of being surprised by two of my dear friends just like that, without any occasion just to make me happy is by far the sweetest.

6.  A Movie Night Out With Girlfriends
My husband agreed to babysit for the evening while I watched Taken 3 with friends last night. It has been almost 2 years since I went to the cinema, munching on popcorn, all of us cringing while watching Liam Neeson smashing wine bottles.  During this scene, we, girls, were all thinking, "Oh no! Not the wine and champagne. .hahaha!"

7. Buying grocery with coins
I don't know but this made me really happy! Since we're leaving, we want to make use of all collected coins before we leave for good. I bought food and essentials with them. Guess what, the cashier was really pleased. She even asked that I bring some more and would be happy to exchange them with bills. Not to worry, I counted all of them before paying at the counter. :)

8. Listening to Maroon 5's version of Marcy Playground's Sex and Candy.
I like the original but their version is even better.

9. My husband's passport is back!
I thought with the stream of events, he may not be able to travel with us. Though I had full faith, it would be released in time and he would be able to. If things turned out otherwise, I was ready to travel on my own. Thank God, it's another step towards finally moving on and burying the past behind.

10. A List of Affordable and Good Furniture Makers in the Philippines
A designer friend, Neil Santander game me a complete list of suppliers and furniture manufacturers in the Philippines, from A- Z,  lighting, material finishes, accessories.. Awesome!

What are you grateful for this week?
Love & light,
Arni

  2. So many good things to be thankful for :)

I also do my make-up (almost) everyday, even if my most exciting plans are going to the supermarket. But there's nothing wrong with seeing an even skin when i look at the mirror and feeling good about that. And I also like giving nice presents away, things I would like to get myself. Making people happy does indeed add to one's happiness :)

  6. It's so good to refelect from time to time like this. I'm grateful for so many things but living in the north of England, rain is not one of them! I am especially grateful for the opportunity to visit Dubai so often to enjoy all that sunshine! I've heard about the book you mentioned which I believe is now also a film. I shall have to read it.

  7. Really liked this and I agree with the importance of taking a step back or taking a little break (from anything) every once in a while is healthy. I love #3!
