Coffee Talk

Hello everyone, how have you been? I'd like to invite you for coffee in my small piece of haven in the blogosphere. It has been a while since I wrote a personal post, though you might find hints of what's going on in my previous articles.

When Life Doesn't Go According to Plan

If I were to go back to my previous target schedule, we should already be living in Coron right about now and should be launching our new biz  next month.  We're nowhere near that. With all the setbacks and obstacles we have faced from the time we landed back in the Philippines last September, despite seeking help from a lawyer and some government bodies, the whole process delayed and changed all of our plans.

"Delay is good. God has a much better plan, " a reassuring thought whispers. I'm not even sure we're going to be in Coron at all but I suppose God has a bigger plan for each of us than what we have for ourselves. It may not always be a straight road but every bump accounts to something.

On vera. (We will see).

The Blues

Repatriation Blues gave me a welcome home hug.  While I have been down with fever while my husband is away for training for the last two days, I'm grateful that my Mom and family are able to look after my baby girl.

Confined under the sheets made me miss Dubai more than ever, especially when I read a whatsapp message from a Dubai friend who moved to Sydney and is feeling homesick of Dubai as well.  I feel you girl. I miss Spinneys, Carrefour, smooth 5- lane highways where one can drive 120km/hr all the time zapping through Salik without queueing for a toll, where I can enjoy a mani pedi without bumping into someone who would ambush you for a useless gossip and my constant topic changing ends up in more bad gossip. Sigh. I miss those days where we had no time to listen to such rubbish.  I miss my friends, Happy and Pretty Girls who would never engage in such, who choose to celebrate our successes and support us when we're down.

I'm grateful I found and met two really good ol' friends here in Manila who share the same positivity, spiritual views and  philosophies.

Do More of What Makes You Happy

I found my old drawing tools that I used when I was studying Architecture. I recently activated my architectural license and will start my design biz once we're settled and based wherever that would be. Much as I enjoy making pastries and coffee, Interior Design is the only thing that can keep me up at night even during my ninth month of pregnancy.  I remember presenting my designs to investors and hotel operators despite my bulging belly.  Don't be surprised if you find me quiet, staring at every nook and cranny in every place I visit, I'm actually mentally renovating every space I see and it's a habit I can't break.

Which activity gives you joy and bliss?

  1. Sorry to hear about the fever! Hope it passes soon.
I was surprised with your plans before because I know that in most countries you can't do anything on schedule when it comes to officials and laws and municipal bureaucracy... so I'm not surprised with this delay... hope it happens for you at some point!

  2. I read from another travel blogger who has been abroad for quite a while and has just returned to the Philippines, that her friends like to gossip. Now that you mention it, I wonder if it's a Filipino thing.

I am amazed at interior designers like you. I wish I could do that too but I have no patience with math and I am not gifted with drawings hahahaha...

To answer your question, the thing that gives me joy and bliss is traveling and writing all about it. If I could do this forever without getting bankrupt I sure would.

    1. Hi Marge, your friend's experience adjusting back home got me intrigued and curious. Is he or she settling in well? I guess I got used to hearing bad news directly from the person involved. I have always preferred it this way, the facts are more accurate avoiding Chinese whispers and out of respect for a friend or person involved. I always enjoy reading your posts. Your passion for travel and writing is felt in every word.

  3. Blergh, I feel on you being homesick even though I'm not so much homesick for a place as much as for a feeling... the holidays tend to do that right? Everything is going to roll forward right into the holidays. Hope it all goes well

  4. How exciting that you'll be doing your own architectural business. Best of luck! I hope you update us. I don't know anything about that world, and it sounds so interesting! And I'll definitely have to grab those IKEA ideas for myself, haha!

    1. Thanks so much Ashley. A friend advised me the same. We need to be patient and business is similar to cooking, we have to make sure it's cooked well, we can't rush the process or it will end up raw and half baked.
