Blessings Upon Blessings

When I attended a meditation course many many years ago, we, along with my siblings were invited to sing this song in public.  With my sister, Allu playing the guitar, we used to imagine we were the Von Trapps. Oh, how I miss them!

It was written and composed by one of the members of this meditation center.  I wish I knew his or her name so I could acknowledge the credits here.

This song changed my life. Literally, changed my life.

May I always walk the path of love
Radiate my beauty, below, inside, above
I will always have my heart each day anew
To the love of family, love of life and love of You
This is the beginning, not an end
Of blessings upon blessings, my friend

May I always live a life in peace
That every special moment sees our unity increase
May every word I speak be strong and true
I will always have a space inside my heart for You
This is the beginning, not an end
Of blessings upon blessings, my friend

And I, I'm committed to service
I can change the world
With my two hands, my heart and soul, I understand

When I think of mountains caressed by oceans blue
I can see the sacred island as a part of me and you
And like the stars that warm the darkest night
We will always fill our world with our love, our life, our light
This is the beginning, not an end
Of blessings upon blessings, my friend

I used to sing this on my way home when I was in my 20s, in my head, inside a crowded van or walking the 2 kilometer path daily to the bus station.

It served as a chant to remind myself that this life is beyond me. That all of this is an illusion. That we are all connected and if we step away from ourselves, life would be filled with joy, peace and love.

A few days ago, I was woken up at 4AM.  This song started playing repeatedly and persistently in my head. It won't stop  until I typed the words on my laptop as if I were putting puzzle pieces together.

I am inspired to share it with you.

You are beautiful!
Continue to shine your light.
Love & light,
Arni
